About Ted Wold
Ted, who devoted his life to acting and teaching acting, began his theatrical journey at Richardson High School. At RHS, he performed in many productions, including playing several characters in William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, which went on to win the Texas State 4A UIL One-Act Play contest in 1976.
After graduating RHS in 1977, Ted went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, and his law degree from Duke University of Law. Ted’s career in Law and Consulting allowed him to pursue his real passion—acting. Ted made a deep and lasting impact with every theatre he worked with including Uptown Players, Theatre Arlington, WaterTower Theatre, Dallas Children’s Theatre, Theatre Three, Pegasus Theatre, Plano Reparatory Theatre, Pocket Sandwich Theatre, Second Thought Theater, and Garland Civic Theatre.
Ted was a two-time recipient of the Leon Rabin Award, winning “Best Actor in a Play” for The Last Night at Ballyhoo at Contemporary Theatre of Dallas (2003) and “Best Supporting Actor” for his performance in WaterTower’s Take Me Out (2006). Ted was also named “Best Actor” by the Dallas-Fort Worth Theatre Critics Forum Awards for his performance of Brother Boy in “Sordid Lives” (2002).
A perpetual student, Ted studied the Meisner Technique with Dallas director Terry Martin. In 2014, Ted moved to the NYC area and attended classes at the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre. There he starred in many MCS productions and directed several plays including Almost Maine, and The Shape of Things. From there, Ted began to pass on his love for acting, starting his first class—“Repetition with Ted”.
Ted realized then that he was born to coach acting. He eventually opened the Ted Wold Studio in NYC where he taught the Meisner Technique. In January 2020 he made his off-Broadway directing debut with a production of Abnormal (Theatre Row). Ted’s most recent roles included Mr. Harding in the NYC workshop production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and a lead in the feature film Retreat! (Slocumb Pictures, LLC).
